Brown medieval belt with yellow linen embroidery

dated 1300 - 1350

Leather belt made of thick vegetable tanned bee leather with brass buckle plate and strap end is decorated by linen thread embroidery. Simple pattern of crossing lines is made according to a piece from Schleswig (Schnack 1998). Similarly decorated pieces were found in other sites and it seems to be quite a popular decoration of belts in 13th and early 14th century. The colour variations are my choice.

This combination of buckle and strapend is dated between the years 1300 - 1500 and are made according to excavated pieces from England. (Finds from England).

The embroidery is maschine sewn with thick linnen thread imitating hand sewing..
