Dated 1350 - 1500
Quite popular heart shape of this purse is easy to find on
sculptures of many churches around central Europe. For instance in
typmanon of Prague Church of Our Lady before Týn (1380), several
churches in Norimberk, Germany (Frauenkirche cca 1360; st. Sebaldus
kirche cca 1379) and surely many others. In leather fragments is
thist shape preserved in Amersfoort NL (Goubitz 2009) also dated to
14th century. The description of the piece does not have a
scale.
The size of this piece is therefore taken from similarly
structured piece from London which is not heart shaped, though
(Egan&Pritchard 1991). The rest of the construction is based on
thesis of O. Goubitz (2009)
