The original on which the bag is based is exceptional for the state of preservation of bigger amount of the vegetable tanned parts. The heart shaped girdle purses are typical of the second half of the 14th to the first half of the 15th century.
The outer shell is made of vegetable tanned cowhide leather and, like the original, is fully lined with oil-tanned deerskin, which is also used for the additional coin pockets and drawstring straps. The stitching is mostly done by machine with linen thread and supplemented by hand-stitching the leather strap on the main joint.
